Built-in the 1980s to promote world peace, the stupa is a popular place for tourists to watch the sunset and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding landscape. One of the best ways to experience Leh Ladakh is to hike in the mountains. The area is home to some of the most beautiful nature walks in the world, such as the Markha Valley Trek and the Stok Kangri Trek. These hikes will take you through beautiful valleys, snow-capped mountains and remote villages where you can experience the local culture and hospitality.   Leh Ladakh is home to a beautiful and unique culture, influenced by its location at the crossroads of many ancient trade routes. 

The region's large population, including Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus,  has created a rich and diverse cultural fabric. One of the most famous festivals in the region is the Hemis Festival, which celebrates the birthday of Guru Rinpoche, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism. The festival is breathtaking with traditional dance performances, colourful costumes and lively music.
