The Rise of Dubai: From Desert to Global Metropolis

 


Dubai is a city that has transformed from a small fishing village to a cosmopolitan city in just a few years. 

Here is a brief history of Dubai: Age before oil:
Dubai, It has a long history of human settlement dating back 3000 years BC. The city was a trade centre between India and the Middle East, and goods such as pearls, textiles and spices passed through its port. The Al Maktoum family, who still rule Dubai today, came to the city in the 19th century.

Discovery of oil:
The discovery of oil in Dubai in 1966 changed the city's economy.
Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who was the ruler of Dubai at the time, invested heavily in infrastructure and new construction such as building ports, airports and highways. This laid the foundation for Dubai to become a world centre for trade and business. 

Modernization:
The modernization and diversification of Dubai began in the 1990s when the city began to invest in tourism, finance and real estate. The opening of Dubai International Airport in the 1960s contributed to the growth of Dubai's economy. Dubai also began to attract foreign investment and foreign workers, leading to a construction boom and the creation of the city's iconic skyline.

Dubai Today:
Today, Dubai is a world centre for tourism, finance and trade. The city has a diverse economy with growth coming from industries such as aviation, logistics and technology. Dubai is home to some of the world's most prominent landmarks, such as the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and Palm Jumeirah. The city is also known for its hospitality and entertainment.

Here are some of the features that make Dubai one of the most exciting cities:

Burj Khalifa: With a height of 828 meters, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. Visitors can climb up to the 124th-floor observation deck for a great city view.

Dubai Mall: Dubai Mall is one of the largest shopping centres in the world with more than 1,200 stores. There is also an indoor playground, aquarium, ice cream and cinema.

Ski Dubai: Ski Dubai is an indoor ski resort located at the Mall of the Emirates.
It has five ski areas, a chair lift and a penguin gate.

Palm Jumeirah: Palm Jumeirah is an island of palm trees. It is home to some of the most luxurious hotels and resorts in Dubai.

Dubai Miracle Garden: Dubai Miracle Garden is the world's largest garden with over 45 million flowers. It has beautiful flowers, including the original structure of the Burj Khalifa made of flowers.

Dubai Fountain: The Dubai Fountain is the largest in the world. It contains over 6,000 lights and a pump that pumps 150 feet of air and is located in the Burj Khalifa.

Dubai Museum: The Dubai Museum is located in Al Fadi Fort, the oldest building in Dubai. Here you can see the history and culture of the city, including traditional temples, music and weapons.

Sheikh Zayed Road: Sheikh Zayed Road is the main road in Dubai and is surrounded by Dubai's tallest skyscrapers, such as the Burj Khalifa and the Emirates Tower.

Dubai has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a small fishing village.
Its rapid transformation into a cosmopolitan city is a testament to the visionary culture and entrepreneurship of the people of Dubai.
